extreme VTM joins Hair Foundation in supporting Operation Restore patients

Seattle, WA, January 14, 2010

Hair Foundation's call for donations this holiday season paid off. extreme VTM, joined the Hair Foundation and other donors in support of Operation Restore (OR), a program that delivers free surgical treatments for hair loss from hair and scalp deformities. extreme VTM committed $1500 in cash and in-kind donation over the next three years to bolster the program's visibility and help OR patients.

"Why are we seeking increased donations to expand the OR program, because of patient success stories like, A.C., currently age 8, who suffered burns on over 43% of her body, including half of her head." said Dr. E. Antonio Mangubat, President and Chair of the Hair Foundation's Board of Trustees. Since 2006, A.C., has undergone three surgeries performed by an Operation Restore physician. Because of OR, A.C.'s hair has now been fully restored over her entire head and she enjoys a vibrant, new lease on life.

About Operation Restore:

Founded in 2003 by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS), OR has been supported entirely by direct donations and grants from the Hair Foundation as well as corporations and physicians dedicated to its mission of providing hair restoration surgery to individuals with hair loss due to trauma or disease. In the six years since its inception, OR and its partners have raised more than $300,000 and given more than 14 individuals a new lease on life. By providing surgical treatments like hair restoration and full scalp reconstruction, recipients have received the gift of freedom from worry, embarrassment, or hopelessness about their hair or scalp deformities.

An average OR surgery can cost between $15,000 and $35,000 depending on the scope of condition and treatment. However, the OR program assistance does not end with providing funding for the procedure, it also welcomes in-kind gifts of hair related products that we provide to patients during pre and post operative care as well as donations that assist the families of the patients such as airline and hotel vouchers. In order to treat the hundreds of patients who have applied for and are currently awaiting surgery, the program seeks direct donations.
